Exclusive
Network Management Tools ensure that your remote servers,
internetworking devices and other equipment units operate in
optimal conditions. Sentry™ XL introduces exclusive new power
measurement options to extend your network management capabilities
and protect the investment in your internetworking equipment.
Key Features
- Expand network management
capabilities with Load Sense and On Sense
- Protect your investment in
internetworking devices with temperature thresholds
- Power load measured at each DC
circuit
- Improve power planning and
forecasting
- Add new equipment to existing
power resources
- Maximize network uptime
- Monitor changes to the power
state of internetworking devices
- Rectify conditions that cause
power to your internetworking devices to be off
Real-Time Power
Measurement
Using the Sentry XL, you can obtain three real-time measurement
values for remote servers and internetworking devices that are
critical to maintaining high service levels:
- Load Sense
- On Sense
- Temperature Sense
The Sentry XL
permits threshold ranges to be defined for each measurement. When
a measured value falls outside the defined threshold range, SNMP
traps automatically report the exception condition.
Load Sense
Optimize your DC power facility investment. Sentry XL’s Load Sense
measures the power load in amps at each DC power output block. Now
you can measure precisely how much capacity remains on the new 60
or 100 Amp power feed that you just installed.
Using Load Sense you can now determine how much new equipment can
be added to existing power resources. Because the manufacturer’s
nameplate power rating specification on internetworking devices is
generally inaccurate, power planning must be verified with a power
measurement for each device. Sentry XL’s Load Sense remotely
measures the amount of power being used by each device in a
real-time manner, resulting in an accurate measurement for power
planning.
Additionally, when a device’s load limits are exceeded, an SNMP
trap is generated. Load Sense generates ongoing traps until the
load returns to within a normal range.
On Sense
Sentry XL’s On Sense option verifies that there is voltage at the
DC power outlet circuit. This positively confirms that power is
"on" and available to your networking equipment units. If power
is not "on," an SNMP trap is generated whenever an error condition
occurs on a power outlet circuit.
Temperature Sense
Protect your investment in expensive internetworking devices with
Sentry XL’s Temperature Sense. Each Sentry XL is fitted with one
or more temperature probes that measure the ambient temperature in
degrees centigrade inside the equipment rack.
For each equipment rack, the user can set high and low temperature
thresholds. When these limits are exceeded, an SNMP trap is
generated. Once the first trap is generated, a steady-state trap
is generated periodically until the temperature returns to the
normal range.
